Knife crime, gun crime? What’s the difference?

June 2, 2008

Much has been said about knife crime. There have been many recent deaths of teenagers. To some extent if guns are taken away it will be knives. Whilst neither replaces the other, these are all a part of violent gang crime.

Yes, we have to get these things off the street, but what about suppliers, and why  exactly are these kids carrying? Is it respect? Is it to do with other crime? Is it because they want what other rich kids have got and they cannot see a way?

We can expect some harsh times to follow as inevitably it will be front line colleagues that will pave the way….in putting legislation into practice. Unless something gives, what is inevitable is that it will be one or two on the front line that will be in the line of fire……

Poverty and class, what a mix in Urban Britain. Hey, but this could be any urbanisation in the world where street law rules whilst the law itself remains pressured by no resources; yet it is this law that has to deal with the problems created by class.

I don’t see many offenders coming from the rural aristocracy? I see alot of Black kids, some Somalian kids, and sometimes even some White kids are drawn in. None are rich or even middle class. Are these the underclass?

  1. Many offenders are from socially deprived backgrounds, they believe there is no hope in modern Britain of obtaining employment with reasonable salary or in some cases just getting a job. It is the poor in Britain who go to prison and return to prison. Many feel there is no hope of improving themselves, that nobody cares. We should be ashamed of ourselves that such conditions exist in this country.

  2. “It is the poor in Britain who go to prison and return to prison.”

This is about poverty and the class divide then?

  3. Ken rogers, “they believe there is no hope in modern Britain of obtaining employment with reasonable salary or in some cases just getting a job.”

Utter rubbish, liberal slop, there is no reason or excuse to be unemployed in modern Brtain unless you choose to make yourself unemployable as many of these feckless fools do.

Having no other way to establish their position in the food chain they resort to random violence knowing that little will be done to punish them, (until they actually kill someone; which is what they are now doing.)

  4. Yes Twining, it always has been and always will be, I’m afraid.

  5. Annette is that fair? It has to be as it always has been. Is that fair?

Some Bloke – welcome – I don’t advocate Liberal slop, but what about the kids that get dragged in or pay the price of refusal with their lives?
