Merry Christmas 2009 from The Twining Chronicles

December 18, 2009

It’s that time of year again, a year has gone by. Many of us will have faced some challenges in the year gone. Public scrutiny, management scrutiny, poor Home secretaries, poor finances BUT an ever-increasing HR department, and more bureaucratic crap.

As we look back over the year we have seen newcomers to the police blogging world, (thin blue line springs to mind), and some favorite old timers like Nightjack, outed. Noddy and ASNT are about, and some retired old timers like ranter and Dickiebo are well.

Wherever you are in the world of police blogging, at a time when we cannot say Christmas lights for fear of upsetting PC Liberals who haven’t a clue we would like to say, MERRY CHRISTMAS, because really a celebration doesn’t upset anybody that themselves has no fear of other faiths and cultures. I don’t know any Muslim or Black people that would be offended by this celebration. To the people that ARE OFFENDED BY THE OFFENSIVE WORD Christmas we would just like to say:

Please also spare a GENUINE thought for that nowhere man; the homeless.

For us here, this year, we will miss two members of our family, someone old, someone young.

  1. Merry Christmas T – Look I don’t do Christmas and I said it.

  2. Sorry, I’ve missed the allusion: what’s *wrong* with _saying_ “Christmas lights” ?

  3. Exactly, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with saying Christmas lights, but as someone might or will get offended by someone else saying it,we might, well, not say it! Just in case. Humbugs!

  4. Correction: I do know of some people that might be offended,AND THEY WON’T ADMIT IT, BUT THEY DO HAVE THE EARS OF THE CHIEFS. Hey, that’s their issue not mine. There’s nothing wrong with a celebration.

Please spare a thought this Christmas for the lads and lasses who will be doing their very best to ensure we all enjoy a safe and peaceful christmas – the police officers who will be working while we enjoy our rest over Christmas. Spare them a kind thought and send them your best wishes. We pray that your shifts pass peacefully and that you are able to enjoy some special festive times with your families and loved ones.

A special thank you goes out to the unsung heroes of police blogging this year and the years that have gone before. Having worked long, hard challenging shifts, dealing with the worst society can throw at them, they find the time and energy to write their articles, share their experiences, with a great passion for “What’s right” and delivered in the most part, with good humour.

Thank you to one and all, you know who you are, for all your fine efforts. We look forward to plenty more and perhaps some well deserved reforms for you in 2010.

    With best wishes
    Steve & The Team
    Nice 1 Limited

  6. Merry Christmas T – hope you and yours have a good un!
Touch base in the New Year eh?
Best Wishes – Steve & the gang at Thin Blue Line uk

  7. Happy Christmas to you Twining and to all your readers, too.

  8. As another new arrival now enjoying catching up with your previous entries I’d like to say Merry Christmas and wish you a safe, prosperous and ‘writer’s block’ free New Year.

  9. All you need to know about Straw is that he claimed 100% of the council tax on his second home, while paying only 50% of it at the discounted rate.

The claim was later paid back. Straw claimed “accountancy is not my strong point”.

Actually; telling the truth is not his strong point.
